Jeanie has been a serious artist since 2008, and she has over a decade of teaching experience. She has been mentored by master artists and prior to that was self-taught. Jeanie started painting seriously as a way of processing her journey through cancer recovery. In her own words:

“In 2007 I was diagnosed with cancer. During that first treatment year I decided ‘from now on I’d do what I loved.’ I’d been a maker for as long as I could remember and decided to focus on acrylic painting as my medium of expression. After five years of treatment, I was pronounced cancer free. I am so grateful to God and to family and friends for their loving support.  Through the process I discovered that creating from this place of gratitude informed my painting. It was developing into something hopeful and joyful. It did me good through my recovery and after 14 years it still does me good. My studio has become my sanctuary and my art making has become a renewing act of worship. What I love most about teaching art is the wonderful people I meet and the opportunity they give me to encourage them in their art journey.”
